Views and navigation

The Calendar shows the same appointments in several ways — Day, Week, Month, Year, and List. This page explains what each view is for and how to move through time: jump to today, step back and forward, and go straight to a date. It also lists the keyboard shortcuts that switch views and navigate without touching the mouse.

Views

Switch views from the selector in the top bar, or with the keyboard shortcuts below. The five views are:

Day
Timeline of a single day, with an all-day area at the top, a red line marking the current time, and the day's tasks in their own panel. Best for looking at one day in detail — it's also where the "Block day" button lives.
Week
Seven days side by side over a 24-hour ruler, with a line marking the current time. It opens already scrolled to around the current hour. Best for planning the week and comparing days.
Month
A grid of the whole month. Each day previews up to three items, and a "+N more" link opens the day when there are more. Best for the big picture.
Year
Twelve mini-months on one screen, with dots marking today, days with appointments, and holidays. Best for a panoramic view and jumping to a distant date.
List
A table of the appointments for the period, filterable by date range, type, and status. Best for reviewing or finding something specific.
All five views show the same appointments — switching the view only changes how they are laid out, never what exists. Recurring appointments and multi-day events appear on every day they touch, in every view.

The Day and Week timelines start from your configured working hours, but the ruler stretches automatically to fit any event outside them — an appointment at 05:30 is never hidden. Days also decorate themselves: holidays, project deadlines, and contact birthdays show up as small chips above the timeline or inside the month cell.

Use the controls in the top bar to move through time. What "previous" and "next" step by depends on the current view: a day in Day, a week in Week, a month in Month, and a year in Year.

  1. 1Click Today to jump straight back to the current date.
  2. 2Click the left arrow to go to the previous period, or the right arrow to go to the next.
  3. 3To go to a specific date, click it in the mini calendar in the sidebar.
In the Year view, click a month name to open it in the Month view, or click a day to select it. In the Month view, double-click a day (or click its number or the "+N more" link) to open it in the Day view.
Leaving and coming back keeps your place: the Calendar remembers the date and the view you were on instead of resetting to today.
