Recurrence

Recurrence makes an appointment repeat on its own over time: you set it up once and every occurrence appears across all Calendar views. This page covers how to turn recurrence on, the available patterns — daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly, with an interval and an optional end date — and how editing or deleting asks whether to touch a single occurrence, the following ones, or the whole series. For creating and editing appointments in general, see the "Appointments" page.

Set a recurrence

Recurrence is a setting on the appointment itself. Turn it on in the appointment dialog and the same appointment repeats at the frequency and interval you pick.

  1. 1Open an appointment (or create a new one) to bring up its dialog.
  2. 2Turn on "Repeat event".
  3. 3Choose the frequency: daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly.
  4. 4Set the interval in "Repeat every" — for example, 2 for every 2 weeks.
  5. 5For a weekly pattern, pick the days of the week it should land on; for a monthly one, you can choose the last day of the month.
  6. 6If the repetition should stop, set an end date in "Ends on"; otherwise, leave it empty to repeat indefinitely.
  7. 7Save. Every occurrence now shows up across the Day, Week, Month, Year, and List views.
Leaving "Ends on" empty means the appointment repeats with no end. Set an end date whenever you want the series to stop on a specific day.

Recurrence patterns

Every pattern combines a frequency with the interval from "Repeat every". The interval is how many units to skip between occurrences — 1 is every time, 2 is every other, and so on.

Daily
Repeats every day, or every N days according to the interval.
Weekly
Repeats every week, or every N weeks. You can pick which days of the week it lands on; with no days chosen, it uses the same weekday as the start date.
Monthly
Repeats every month, or every N months, on the same day number as the start date. Turn on "On the last day of the month" so it always lands on the final day (which also covers dates like the 31st in shorter months).
Yearly
Repeats every year, or every N years, on the same month and day as the start date.
For a weekly pattern, the days of the week let one appointment repeat on several days — for instance, every Monday and Wednesday.
Hover over a recurring appointment and its tooltip spells the rule out as a phrase — "Every week on Mon, Wed", "Every 2 months until 31/12/2026" — next to a repeat icon, so you can tell a series at a glance.

Edit a recurring appointment

When you open an occurrence of a recurring series, change something and save, the Calendar asks how far the change should reach. This lets you tweak just one occurrence without disturbing the rest.

This event
Applies the change only to the occurrence you opened. It becomes an exception of the series — detached from the rule, keeping its own time and details from then on.
This and following events
Applies the change to this occurrence and every one after it, leaving earlier occurrences untouched. Chosen on the first occurrence, it amounts to the whole series.
All events
Applies the change to the whole series, every occurrence.
  1. 1Click an occurrence in any view to open its dialog.
  2. 2Change whatever you need — time, title, calendar, and so on.
  3. 3Save. The scope question appears.
  4. 4Choose "This event", "This and following events", or "All events".
Dragging an occurrence on the timeline, resizing it, or changing its status also affects only that occurrence — the series keeps its rule.

Delete a recurring appointment

Deleting an occurrence of a series asks the same scope question — "This event", "This and following events", or "All events" — so you can drop a single date, cut the series short from a point on, or remove it entirely. Non-recurring appointments just ask for a simple confirmation.

To change the recurrence rule itself — the frequency, interval, or end date — edit it with the "All events" scope so it applies to the entire series.
