Journal
A personal journal built around a shelf of diaries: each notebook is a diary of its own, with one entry per day written in the same rich editor used by Notes. A diary can be encrypted by the vault or shared with your team — and each one has views for timeline, calendar, media and map. This page is the overview; each topic has its own page below.
Overview
The Journal opens on the "My diaries" shelf, where every diary appears as a physical notebook with its own cover, color, emoji and optional subtitle. Open a notebook to write inside it: each diary keeps a single entry per calendar day, with a title, a body, mood, tags, photos, location and weather. You move day by day and look back over your history through the Timeline, Calendar, Media and Map views.
Core concepts
- Diary
- A notebook on the shelf, with name, subtitle, color, emoji and cover. Each diary can be encrypted by the vault or shared — never both.
- Entry
- One record per calendar day inside a diary, with a title and a body written in the same rich editor as Notes.
- Views
- Inside a diary you switch between "Timeline", "Calendar", "Media" and "Map" — four ways of browsing the same entries.
- Vault
- The app-wide cryptographic gate. A diary marked "Encrypted by the vault" only opens while the vault is unlocked.
Encryption or sharing — per diary
When you create or edit a diary you decide how private it is. The two options are mutually exclusive:
- Encrypted: turn on "Encrypted by the vault" and the diary's entries — title, body, tags, photos list, location and weather — are encrypted on your device before they are saved. Only you can read them; not even the server can. An encrypted diary cannot be shared.
- Shared: a non-encrypted diary can be shared read-only, with your whole team ("Share with your team") or with individual "Guests" invited by the email of their myrna account. Guests read; only you write.
- A diary that someone shared with you appears on your shelf marked "Shared with you" and is read-only.
Privacy
The Journal is isolated from the rest of myrna: its entries do not show up in the other modules or in their searches. The only thing the Home page shows is the "Today's journal" card, which tells whether you have written today — never the content.
