Getting started with myrna

myrna is an all-in-one productivity suite: notes, calendar, tasks and much more live together in one place, instead of scattered across several apps. This page is the best place to start.

Think of myrna as your single workspace. Instead of jumping between a notes app, a calendar app, a task app and a loose spreadsheet, you keep everything connected in the same place, with the same account and the same search.

What myrna brings together

myrna is split into modules. Each module handles a type of information or work, and you switch between them whenever you like. You don't have to use them all: start with the ones that make sense and discover the rest over time.

Notes

A rich Zettelkasten-style editor, with links between notes and a graph that shows how your ideas connect.

Calendar

Schedule appointments and events and view your time by day, week, month, year or as a list.

Journal

A day-to-day space for reflections, logs and habit tracking — with optional encryption.

Tasks

Organize your to-dos into lists and boards, with labels, checklists and due dates.

Contacts

Keep the people you work and connect with in a single address book.

Forms

Build shareable public forms and receive responses straight into myrna.

Bases

Create tables to organize structured information, with table, cards, kanban, calendar and chart views.

Draw

An infinite whiteboard to sketch, diagram, plan visually and even present slides.

Manage your bibliography, sources and citations in one place.

Home: your day at a glance

The first item in the navigation is Home, a dashboard that gathers cards from across the app: Today's agenda, Tasks, Recent notes and Today's journal. It is yours to shape: the Customize button (and Settings → Home) lets you reorder the cards, hide the ones you don't use and choose how many items each card shows.

How to get around the app

There are three main ways to move around myrna, and all of them are worth knowing.

• Module rail: the dark column on the left edge of the screen lists every module as an icon. It is the fastest way to switch areas on a computer. If you prefer names under the icons, turn on "Module names in the side rail" in Settings → Appearance.
• Module launcher: the grid button next to the logo opens a panel with all modules, with the recently used ones highlighted. On phones, where the rail is hidden, this is the way to switch modules.
• Command palette: press Ctrl/Cmd+K to go anywhere and run quick actions without taking your hands off the keyboard, such as opening a module, creating a note or task, or searching your content.

The top bar, always with you

The top bar appears on every page and carries four global tools on the right:

What's new (megaphone)

Product news and recent improvements. A badge shows how many announcements you haven't seen.

Notifications (bell)

Personal notices, such as messages about your subscription. A red badge counts unread items.

Help (?)

Opens this help center from wherever you are.

Vault (shield)

Locks and unlocks your encrypted content. The icon shows whether the vault is currently open.

First steps

1. 1Create an account or log in with your existing account.
2. 2Open your account menu (your name or avatar), choose Settings and pick the language and theme (light, dark or automatic) you prefer.
3. 3Create your first note to get a feel for how the editor works.
4. 4Visit Home and customize its cards to match your routine.
5. 5Use the module rail to explore Calendar, Tasks and the other modules at your own pace.

Essential shortcuts

Make it yours

myrna adapts to you: choose between light, dark or automatic color scheme, pick an accent color that tints buttons and highlights across the whole app, and use the focus mode button in the status bar to hide side panels and write without distractions. Each module also has its own defaults in Settings.

Your data, everywhere

Everything you create is saved automatically to your account and syncs across your devices: what you write on your computer shows up on your phone and vice versa. myrna adapts to phone and tablet screens and can be installed as an app, which works offline for reading — and changes made while offline are queued and sent when the connection returns.
