Templates and AI
You don't have to build a board from an empty screen. Start a project from a ready-made template that already brings lists, labels and cards, or describe your goal and let AI generate the whole structure. Both paths create a real project you can edit right away — the result is a starting point, not something locked in.
Both options live in the new-project flow of the Overview: next to the blank "New project" you'll find "Start from a template" and "Create with AI". Either way, Tasks fills in the lists, cards, labels and dates for you.
Start from a template
A template is a ready-made board for a common situation. Choosing one creates a fresh project seeded with its lists, labels and example cards — already carrying priorities, notes, checklists and start and due dates spread over the coming weeks. Some work templates also come with phases and dependencies between cards, as a showcase of both features.
- 1In the Overview, start creating a new project and choose "Start from a template".
- 2Templates are split into two groups: "Personal" and "Work".
- 3Browse the cards and read each template's short description to find the closest fit.
- 4Click a template to create the project instantly, with its lists and cards already in place.
- 5Rename lists, edit or delete cards, and adjust dates so the board matches your reality.
The names follow your interface language. Personal templates include Trip, Party / Event, Moving house, Studies, Health & Fitness, Reading list and Personal finance.
Work templates include Product launch, Development sprint, Marketing campaign, Employee onboarding, Hiring, Quarterly roadmap (OKRs) and Content calendar.
Generate with AI
When no template fits, describe what you want in your own words and let AI assemble the board. It reads your goal and returns a complete structure: a project name and color, lists, labels and a set of actionable cards.
- 1In the new-project flow, choose "Create with AI".
- 2Describe the project in the text box — the goal, and any context that matters (scope, audience, deadline). Up to 600 characters.
- 3Click "Generate" and wait a moment while the structure is assembled.
- 4A new project opens, already filled with the generated lists and cards.
- 5Review it and adjust: rename lists, refine card titles, fix priorities and reschedule dates as needed.
Write the description in the language you want the result in — the board comes back in the same language as your prompt.
After creating
However the board was created, from here on it behaves like any other project — the same lists, cards, views and settings. For how to work with them day to day, see the "Projects and lists" page.
