Task cards

The card is the unit of work in Tasks. Start with just a title and add detail as you go: notes with formatting, a checklist, subtasks, dates and reminders, a cover, members, comments and attachments. This page covers the card editor and how to fill each part. Labels, priority and dependencies have their own pages.

Click a card to open its editor. At the top sit the cover banner, the icon button and the title; the left column holds Notes, Labels, Status, Priority, "Subtask of" and Phase; the right side is tabbed: Details, Dates, Members, Activity and Attachments.

The editor saves when you confirm — press Ctrl/Cmd+Enter from any field or use the save button. A title is required, and if you try to close with unsaved changes, the editor asks before discarding anything.

Title, icon and notes

  1. 1Click the title at the top of the card and type the task name.
  2. 2Use the icon button next to the title to pick an icon or emoji that marks the card visually on the board.
  3. 3Write the details in "Notes" — it is a lightweight markdown editor, so headings, bold, lists and links render with formatting.

Checklist

Use a checklist (in the Details tab) for small steps that do not deserve their own card. Each item is a checkbox, and a progress bar shows how many are done; the board card shows a "done/total" badge.

  1. 1In the "Checklist" section, type an item and press Enter to add it.
  2. 2Click an item's box to mark it done; click the text to edit it inline (Enter confirms, Esc cancels).
  3. 3Hover an item and use the remove button to delete it.

Subtasks

A subtask is a full card nested under a parent, useful when a step is large enough to track on its own.

  1. 1Create the smaller task as its own card (the card menu also offers "Add subtask", already linked to the parent).
  2. 2Or open an existing card and set "Subtask of" to the parent task.
  3. 3In the List view you can also nest with Ctrl/Cmd+→ or by dragging.
A parent must belong to the same project — each project is independent. Completing a parent also completes its pending subtasks (with Undo); reopening the parent does not reopen them.

Dates, repeat and reminders

The "Dates" tab gathers everything time-related:

Start
When the task begins; anchors its bar on the Timeline and its slot in the My day panel.
Due date
The deadline; places the card on the Calendar. One-click presets: Today, Tomorrow, Next week, No date.
Time
Optional time of day for the deadline.
Repeat
Daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, with an interval and an optional end date. Completing a repeating task advances it to the next occurrence instead of finishing it — the toast tells you the new date, with Undo.
Reminders
Presets built from the due date and time (at the time, 10 minutes, 1 hour or 1 day before) plus a custom moment; delivered as notifications, with optional push on this device. Available once the task has been saved.

Members

The "Members" tab assigns the card to people: members of a shared project (team and invited users) and contacts allocated to the project. Assigned people appear as avatars on the card, and the "My tasks" filter shows only yours.

The tab only appears when the project has members or allocated contacts. In a solo, unshared project there is no one to assign.

Cover

A cover fills the card's background on the board — great for visual grouping. Click the image button in the editor header and pick a solid color, a gradient, a free image from the built-in search, an uploaded photo or an image URL. The remove button clears it.

Activity, comments and attachments

  • The "Activity" tab mixes comments and the card's history (moved, completed, reopened, archived). Mention teammates with @Name; "Watch" subscribes you to updates.
  • The "Attachments" tab stores files on the card (up to 25 MB each).
  • Both live on saved cards — create the card first, then enrich it.

Custom fields

If the project defines custom columns (the same ones shown in the Table view), the "Custom fields" section of the Details tab lets you fill them per card — including select options and formula results.

Labels, priority and dependencies are set on the card too — see "Labels and priorities" and "Dependencies".
